Organization Description

The Social Bridging Project, anchored at the California Office of Emergency Services, was developed as a public health and safety campaign to counter social distancing through direct phone calls to vulnerable populations in California. In addition to disaster readiness outreach, the project is calling thousands of Californians over age 60 for wellness checks. Our callers (Bridgers) break through the pandemic’s isolation with friendly conversations and offer community resources to help older adults cope with related social, emotional and financial stressors. Remote Bridgers make calls using phone banking tools.
