National Alianza for Opportunity

Organization Description

La Alianza is a national, intergenerational network that centers system-impacted youth leadership and voice while using research, storytelling, and advocacy to uplift Indigenous/Latinx youth visibility, building movement to replace youth injustice systems with long-term solutions rooted in cultural, Comunidad, and healing.

Program Information

Social Work Interns will work alongside Alianza staff to develop content and informational materials that uplift the challenges and experiences of Latine/x, Afro-latine/x, and Indigenous communities through an economic and racial justice lens. Interns will help coordinate and carry out activities to disseminate materials and be present at events to share and lead discussions. Interns will support crafting recommendations for policy change at the local, state, and national levels, raising awareness and action among a wider audience, and assisting in developing and presenting at national, state, and local conferences. Interns will possibly mentor/support members of the community (youth and elders) who are involved in our work and who may be formerly incarcerated, survivors of violence, or individuals who a system has unfairly treated. Interns will also have the opportunity to identify their own research and project interests and be provided an opportunity to work on them.
