CÉSAR CHÁVEZ DAY OF SERVICE | BRONCO STAMPEDE OF SERVICE

Join the Center for Community Engagement for our spring Bronco Stampede of Service in honor of César Chávez Day on Thursday, March 31st from 9AM-1PM at Lopez Urban Farm in Pomona.  

César Chávez was an American civil rights and labor leader who influenced and inspired millions of Americans through his non-violent tactics in peaceful strikes, marches and boycotts, in the struggle for better pay and safer working conditions for farmworkers. March 31st is dedicated as a day of service and learning in honor of César Chávez birthday.

START TIME: Check-in at the 8:30 AM (Service Project will be from 9 AM - 1 PM | LUNCH WILL BE PROVIDED)

MEET US AT: Lopez Urban Farm |1034 W. Mission Blvd., Pomona, CA 91766

ORGANIZATION INFORMATION: The Lopez Urban Farm is a community-based collaboration between local community groups, organizations, businesses, universities, teachers, students, and community members - that will come together to create a working urban farm using the 2.5-acre lot that will ultimately provide: greater access to clean food, knowledge about growing your own food without chemicals, nutrition education, environmental education, school garden training, and access to clean and safe green space. 

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Volunteer service may include weeding, harvesting crops, turning compost, helping with repairs, and/or assisting with other fun projects.

Remember to dress for the outdoors with appropriate clothing, sunscreen, hat, mask, water, and closed-toed shoes.

The event is made possible by funding from Instructionally Related Activities and is sponsored by the Center for Community Engagement.
