Opportunity Summary 

Program Leaders work with an assigned group of students and act as a positive adult role model, coach, and mentor. Program Leaders must have a genuine interest in the growth, development, and provision of a safe and nurturing environment for the students they teach. A Program Leader’s ability to establish authority and connections through leadership • Appropriate use of standard English language, in writing and in speech. • Ability to perform non-teaching classroom tasks. • A positive role model for students. • Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with participants and co-workers, and parents. • A love for students and learning. • Effective conflict resolution skills. • Integrity in all his/her dealings with the community; is respectful, thoughtful, honest, and fair. • Ability to follow established procedures in an emergency situation.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

• Monitor the safety and security of students. • Supervise students in classrooms, • Keep accurate records of student participation/attendance. • Assists students in completing homework • Assist in preparing instructional materials for the after-school program. • Ensure materials are well-managed and school property is maintained in an orderly fashion. • Help maintain a respectful, safe, and nurturing learning environment.

Opportunity Training 

Students will be trained in areas they will be placed, such as our homework help, computer lab, art studio or gymnasium. Students will be placed with staff to see how and what is needed to perform the proper job.
