RVT InternAt — Emergency Pet Hospital of Glendora
Students gain hands on emergency veterinary experience, apply academic knowledge in a clinical setting, and develop technical and professional skills
By the end of this opportunity, students will have learned emergency patient care, clinical and diagnostic support skills, and critical thinking in fast paced situations.
Students will receive hands on training under the direct supervision of licensed Registered Veterinary Technicians and veterinarians. Training includes hospital orientation, safety protocols, emergency procedures, patient handling and restraint, triage assistance, nursing care, diagnostic understanding, assisting with anesthesia monitoring, and client communication as appropriate. Students will be gradually introduced to responsibilities based on their skill level and program requirements, with guidance, feedback, and evaluation throughout their internship hours.
Prior to participating in any clinical activities we will go over proper animal handling and restraint, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), infection control, safe handling of sharps and medical equipment, radiation safety, and emergency procedures. Students are supervised at all times and instructed to report any safety concerns or incidents immediately.
