Opportunity Summary 

The HR Intern will support the Human Resources team with day-to-day administrative and operational tasks while gaining hands-on experience in a nonprofit HR environment. Responsibilities may include assisting with onboarding and offboarding, maintaining employee records, supporting recruitment efforts, and helping with training coordination. This opportunity provides exposure to HR best practices, compliance, and employee relations while developing professional skills such as communication, organization, and confidentiality.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

By the end of this opportunity, students will have learned foundational human resources concepts, including onboarding and offboarding processes, employee record management, and basic recruitment support. Students will develop professional workplace skills such as communication, time management, confidentiality, and attention to detail. They will also gain hands-on experience using HR systems and tools, understand the importance of compliance and professionalism, and build confidence working in a collaborative office environment.

Opportunity Training 

Students will receive on-the-job training covering general office procedures, including phone and email etiquette, filing and document management, data entry, use of office equipment, and basic computer systems. Training will also include time management, workplace professionalism, confidentiality, and safety expectations. Ongoing supervision and support will be provided to ensure students can successfully perform their responsibilities

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

This opportunity takes place in a general office environment. Students will receive an orientation on workplace safety, including proper use of office equipment, ergonomic best practices, emergency procedures, and confidentiality expectations. Supervision will be provided at all times, and students will be encouraged to report any safety concerns immediately. No hazardous materials or high-risk activities are involved.
