FitWell Lab InternAt — Cal Poly Pomona - FitWell Research Lab
The FitWell Lab offers internship opportunities for students interested in health, fitness, and behavior change research. The lab’s motto is “Empowering Wellness Through Fitness—Student-led, Community-Focused”. Interns will be participant-facing and assist with the implementation of the various lab research studies. Current projects include developing an innovative resistance exercise device for older adults through focus groups and design research, evaluating how enjoyment and gamification influence exercise participation and fitness outcomes, and assessing the validity of fitness apps against gold-standard measures. Not to mention the evolving graduate student research. In addition to research activities such as data collection and program development, interns may have opportunities to assist with fitness assessments and provide exercise counseling in community settings. This opportunity is ideal for students seeking applied research experience in exercise science, behavior change, and health promotion within a collaborative, and interdisciplinary lab environment.
Interns gain hands-on experience with data collection, fitness assessment, community-based participatory research, and program development.
Training will be provided to students at the start of their internship under the supervision of the lab's Principal Investigator and the lead graduate student researcher.
Interns will be required to complete research ethics training, basic life saving CPR training, and complete a liability waiver.
