R&D Lab TechnicianAt — California Custom Fruits and Flavors

Opportunity Summary

California Custom Fruits & Flavors Inc, a supplier of custom value-added ingredients to the dairy, bakery, beverage, and food service industries, has an immediate opening for an internship as an R&D Lab Technician. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience and learn about the food industry. The ideal candidate should have at least a high school diploma and be proficient in math, science, and computer skills. While we prefer candidates studying Food Science, we would also consider those studying Biology, Chemistry or other related fields. The responsibilities for this role include assisting Food Scientists with various lab tasks, preparing ingredients and cooking lab formulas, setting up samples for sensory evaluation, performing physical and chemical analysis, conducting shelf-life experiments, and shipping samples.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes

The student will have a better understanding of how an R&D department in a food manufacturing company runs projects, from initial contact form customer to potential customer to formula completion and from test runs to full manufacturing of the new formula.

Opportunity Training

Depending on the department: Research and Development, Quality Assurance, (both would be benching activities, formula development, and being involved in development and testing) Operations could be a wide range of things - developing schedules, tracking and analyzing data on our KPIs, policy development, trainings development, etc

Additional risk specific to this opportunity

The R&D lab is essentially a kitchen and will use all relative equipment so precautions need to be respected.
