As a Medical Intern, you will work alongside our veterinary professionals in a state-of-the-art facility to support the health and well-being of rescue animals awaiting adoption. Interns will have the opportunity to observe clinical procedures, assist with daily health screenings, and learn about the specialized protocols required in a high-volume adoption center. This role is ideal for students passionate about shelter medicine, animal science, and community education. You will gain invaluable experience in a collaborative environment dedicated to saving lives and fostering animal-friendly communities.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes

By the end of this opportunity, students will have learned to perform clinical observations and assist with daily health screenings within a professional shelter environment. They will gain a comprehensive understanding of shelter medicine protocols, including disease prevention and animal wellness assessments. Furthermore, students will develop proficiency in animal handling techniques and behavioral observation skills aimed at reducing animal stress, while learning to effectively communicate complex health information to a multi-disciplinary team.

Opportunity Training

Students will complete a comprehensive on-site orientation focused on PetSpace’s organizational protocols and safety standards.
