CAMP (Community Animal Medicine Project®) is about community – providing access to affordable veterinary services in historically excluded areas helping to keep pets and their people together, where they belong. CAMP’s mission is to substantially reduce animal shelter euthanasia and intake by providing high quality, low-cost veterinary services to underserved communities in the Los Angeles area.

At Community Veterinary Hospital, the community comes first! Established in 1956, our mission has always been to serve animals and their owners. We are a general practice offering wellness exams, ill pet exams, diagnostics such as in-house blood work, digital radiographs and ultrasound. We also work with mobile board-certified radiologist and cardiologist to provide in-house ultrasound and echocardiogram consultations. We also offer various surgical procedures including spays, neuters, mass removals, dentals cleanings and tooth extractions, gastrointestinal surgery, bladder stone removal (cystotomy), biopsies and more.

The COPE Health Scholars program is an organization that provides firsthand experience in both clinical and administrative health care settings and become an integral part of the care delivery team. Scholars assist with basic care for patients alongside nurses, physicians and other members of the care delivery team, and have opportunities to learn the “business” of health care.

ELE Corp is a non-profit organization that is converting a 95 year old church building into a multi-purpose community center to serve very low-income residents in the area. Various educational and community development programs are being created, based upon building the technology infrastructure for the site that is the key component for this academic internship.
