Service-Learning OpportunitiesAt — Casa De Vida Inc.
Gain hands-on experience in a residential recovery program. Interns will learn about recovery support, group facilitation, community outreach, and nonprofit operations while working alongside experienced staff and residents in recovery.
Students will interact directly with clients from the organization and collect oral histories. Along with this, we would like volunteers to help build up our media/advertisement package. It is also our desire to see relationships built that will help foster mentors for our clients.
Students will have the opportunity to learn about community engagement through our volunteer service projects that we engage in. These projects include Food Share Distribution, Oxnard Pride (City Clean-up), and Family to Family (Feeding the Homeless).
By the end of this opportunity, students will understand the principles of recovery support, residential program operations, professional communication, group facilitation, and nonprofit service delivery within a recovery-focused environment.
Students will receive a one-hour orientation covering Casa De Vida's mission, program structure, confidentiality requirements, professional boundaries, safety procedures, and internship expectations. Additional training will be provided through staff shadowing, observation of recovery groups, participation in program activities, community outreach, fundraising events, and regular guidance from staff throughout the internship.
Students will receive training on confidentiality, professional boundaries, and safety procedures. Interns will be supervised by staff and are expected to follow all Casa De Vida policies and immediately report any safety concerns to their supervisor.
