Opportunity for Fall 2023:
We are looking for students who can create videos of our volunteer activities that will be used on our website. Students will work directly with our Marketing Manager. Students should have narrative skills and basic knowledge of how to shoot videos from a cell phone. View the creative brief here.
1) Students can complete service hours by assisting in the Kids’ Farmers’ Market, Mobile Pantry, Senior Kit, Produce Outreach, and Senior Nutrition Garden programs.
2) Students can learn how FOOD Share gathers, inventories, and distributes food by interviewing staff from various departments.
3) Students can participate in the food sorting and bread sorting processes.
4) Students can assist with running a drive-thru pop-up food pantry at College Park in Oxnard. We need help setting up, gathering names, placing boxes of food into trunks of cars, traffic control, and breakdown at the site.
FOOD Share Inc. is also interested in working directly with faculty from varied disciplines to build service-learning projects that support learning course outcomes.
Students will learn how Food Share, Inc., their local food bank, successfully serves the Ventura County community on a massive scale. They will also see who is being served. Students will realize the impact they made seeing how many people they helped get food onto the tables of the recipients.
The lead staff/volunteer will brief the students on how to safely perform the activity.
A safety vest and gloves must be worn during this activity.
