Opportunity Summary 

1) Students are needed to assist with coordinating and implementing community events, assisting with assessing community needs and developing strategies to address those needs, and assisting with surveying/data collection.

2) Receive training and prepare state and federal tax returns for low-wage earners assisting them in accessing the tax credits for which they are eligible. Work in a team environment with experienced tax prep volunteers and gain valuable real work experience. Daytime, evening, and weekend hours are available at multiple locations across the County.

 

United Way of Ventura County is also interested in working directly with faculty from varied disciplines to build service-learning projects that support course outcomes.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

Students will learn current tax law and how to prepare and e-file state and federal tax returns.

Students will also learn about the mission, services, and population this organization serves and the issues that impact this population.
