Join the Thousand Oaks and Newbury Park Libraries to support diverse populations in achieving academic success as well as enhancing literacy and socioemotional skills.
1) The Human Library Project aims to bring together community members from diverse backgrounds, including those who are blind, transgender, combat veterans with PTSD, and refugees. It seeks to foster engagement and combat prejudice through open conversations about unique life experiences.
2) Tutors to help with the afterschool Homework Center (common core grades K-8).
4) Conducting needs assessments, collecting and analyzing data, researching programs to improve services.
5) Developing library programs (e.g. STEM activities, makerspace, etc.).
6) Designing a technology program for students and youth.
7) Planning arts and crafts activities for patrons of all ages in the community.
8) Assisting with language learning development and providing targeted support for language acquisition and skill enhancement of multiple languages.
Thousand Oaks Library is also interested in working directly with faculty from varied disciplines to build service-learning projects that support course outcomes.

A hand book has been prepared as a training guide to provide all the information needed to help in the tutoring and mentoring role. Orientation will be provided prior to commencing service.
Injuries sustained while in the Library need to be reported. Respond to all fire alarms and notice available emergency exits in the Library.
