The Surfrider Foundation is a non-profit grassroots environmental organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of our world’s oceans waves and beaches. Join our network and help us tackle the issues that face our coastal and nearshore ocean environment.
Surfrider Ventura is looking for candidates to help support the chapter’s Beach Cleanup Program.
- Assist the Chapter Beach Cleanup Coordinator, and other chapter volunteers at beach cleanups at various locations.
- Assist with setting up beach cleanups, beach cleanup data entry, maintenance of beach cleanup supplies, and outreach materials
- Analyze beach cleanup data to identify any trends. Support plastic-reduction campaigns with beach cleanup data, and offer suggestions on how to prevent litter.
- Capture content at beach cleanups to help create social media posts, draft blogs, etc.
- Co-Lead beach cleanups (with the help of staff and volunteers) and assist with other various duties related to beach cleanups.
- Attend monthly chapter meetings on the 1st Tuesday of most months to learn more about Surfrider and be able to engage volunteers at cleanups with some basic info about Surfrider.
Students will have the opportunity to focus their volunteer hours on a variety of interdisciplinary projects that will gain them hands-on experience in the fields of environmental science, marketing, communications, non-profit business management, waste management, and/or more.
We offer a one-hour office onboarding session at the beginning, along with training onsite at events.
During the office onboarding session, we talk about safety measures to take at beach cleanups.
