Service-Learning OpportunitiesAt — Humane Society of Ventura County
This opportunity will be part outreach and part education, the goal is to create a survey for teachers, educators, school administrators and students, to gauge how humane education programs can cause an impact on the choices we make. Youth will explore place/ Earth stewardship by writing about the care for the animals. HSVC would like to know what programs would be welcomed in the classrooms and what impact HSVC's program will have on the youth. We are looking to fill the needs of schools/ curriculum through humane education programming that is both engaging to youth audiences (K-12), standards-based and addresses civic engagement/civic minded participation in our local communities. Once the survey results come back, we will then work of curating resources that we feel are in need within Ventura County.
Understand (exemplify) the importance of
- engaging schools/ youth in animal welfare programs
- providing a survey to a specific population to gauge the needs within a community

- learning more about animal communication to inspire youth to protect non-human animals
