Opportunity Summary 

Teatro de las Américas offers students hands‑on experience in bilingual, community‑centered arts programming. Students can support theatre production, youth arts education, community engagement, and nonprofit operations. Opportunities include assisting with rehearsals, stage management, front‑of‑house coordination, marketing, social media, event planning, and documentation of performances. Students may also help develop curriculum for youth workshops, support cultural events, and participate in outreach to local schools and families. All activities are supervised by experienced staff and designed to build communication, collaboration, cultural competency, and real‑world project management skills.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

Students will gain experience working in a multicultural arts environment, develop professional communication skills in English and Spanish, learn how nonprofit arts organizations operate, and strengthen their ability to collaborate with diverse community members. Students will also build confidence in planning, organizing, and executing arts‑based projects that serve youth and families.

Opportunity Training 

Students receive orientation on Teatro’s mission, safety protocols, and expectations. They are supervised by the Executive Director or designated project leads, with regular check‑ins and feedback. Tasks are assigned based on skill level and course requirements, and students are supported throughout their placement.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

Teatro de las Américas provides a supervised, low‑risk environment focused on arts education and community engagement. Students do not handle hazardous materials or specialized equipment. All activities occur in well‑lit, monitored spaces, with orientation on emergency procedures, exits, and professional conduct. Staff supervise rehearsals and events, ensuring safe backstage movement and appropriate public interaction. Protocols are in place for working with youth and families, and students are never left alone with minors. Tasks match each student’s training and comfort level.
