Center for Restorative Justice Works - Get On The BusAt — Center for Restorative Justice Works - Get On The Bus
The Center for Restorative Justice Works would be a great organization for students who are interested working in Restorative Justice. Students will gain a different perspective regarding the challenges families and minors face when it comes to maintaining their relationship with their loved ones who are currently incarcerated. Students will also be able to learn how to navigate the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) when scheduling visits/participating in GOTB events. However, GOTB events are TBD, as CDCR rules and regulations regarding visiting frequently change.
The process it takes to host a Get on the Bus event at a California State Prison, along with the visitation process families must go through to ensure they are able to see their loved ones inside the institutions. Students will also gain knowledge of CDCR's rules and regulations and have opportunities to work with other programs under the Center for Restorative Justice Works (i.e. Family Express).
Students will participate in staff meetings that go over expectations and responsibilities regarding tasks assigned to them. In addition, if GOTB events do proceed, students will participate in the annual Regional Coordinator/Bus Coordinator/Volunteer training.
A code will be required to get into the building.
