Opportunity Summary:
We deliver meals to seniors, disabled and veterans that are homebound. Students may help pack the food, drive a delivery route, act as the "friendly visitor" and deliver the meal or possibly work in the office with day to day tasks to help prepare for the next days meal deliveries.
Students will learn communication skills, observation skills by observing the clients both physically and their environment, working with multiple age groups and how they interact, how the different working parts of an organization have to work together to make the the operation run smoothly.
There's an orientation that is done on the first day of volunteering that will cover all necessary information to the students to perform their volunteer duties.
We are following all CDC Guidelines and Long Beach Health Department regulations regarding cleaning the facility, delivery containers like coolers and hot-bags, hand washing, hand sanitizing, wearing face masks and social distancing.
