Opportunity Summary 

Project Angel Food prepares and delivers medically tailored meals to feed people impacted by serious illness, bringing comfort and hope every day. Volunteers assist in preparing and packaging client meals in our kitchen, and packaging supplements in our dispatch area. Great team environment with other volunteers and staff leads to a fulfilling experience. With the impact of the current pandemic, this service is needed more than ever to help those at highest risk.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

Students will learn about food preparation/packaging, including safety guidelines. They will also learn about working individually and as part of a team environment (both as lead and member). There are elements of organization, prioritizing, and time management that will also be part of the service experience.

Opportunity Training 

An orientation is provided at the start of the student's first shift. Staff provides training for any new tasks that are assigned during each shift.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

All safety supplies are provided on site: masks, gloves, hairnets, aprons, first aid, etc.
