The internship program is an opportunity available to College and University students participating in Service Learning/Community Service activities, or who want to gain relevant professional experience. The curriculum has a multidisciplinary approach that, through a rotation system, integrates all components of the ReConnect program. This structure provides first-hand knowledge of all the significant elements involved in the operations of a nonprofit program.
Direct Client Service: Organize, schedule, and conduct weekly activities with an assigned client/s in compliance with the activities plan developed by the Case Manager. Outreach and Volunteer Recruitment: Promote the ReConnect program within the local community in public and private events, health fairs, volunteer recruitment exhibitions, and trainings. Disseminate printed information about the program and available support groups among entities frequently visited by seniors or isolated adults such as libraries, senior and community centers, and post offices. Administrative Support: Assist with the department linkages and evaluation database management to support grant’s outcomes. Document participant’s activities and visits, and conduct telephone assistance to monitor clients
Trainings that will be provided to the student are as follows: Orientation and Agency Overview Training (3 hours), Outreach Training (1 hour), and a Monthly Report Training (2 hours)
Trainings will be provided to ensure the safety of each student. Trainings include: Covid-19 Safety Protocol Training and Field Safety Protocol.
