Project Assistant InternAt — Khmer Girls In Action
The intern will support our youth leadership program projects and programmatic needs to engage youth of color in campaign and community organizing efforts. ● Support with base building strategies to recruitment and retain a membership base of youth, alums, and volunteers. ● Engage in campaign events and efforts to support campaign goals such as story banking, documentation, phone banking and providing academic support services to the youth members. ● Supporting and taking on other special projects, as necessary.
Interns will develop organizing and campaign skill-building on local issues that impact Southeast Asian youth living in Long Beach, CA. They will strengthen relationships with community members and youth of color across the city through coalition and network building to better understand collective power and youth organizing work . They will get hands-on experiences on projects, campaigns and event planning through a race, class and gender lens that will provide a political and root cause analysis in understanding the issues young people are facing. Interns will work directly with our staff team and youth members to gain insight on how to best support youth needs.
Event Planning, outreach and recruitment, healing and wellness & A-G tracking
We ask that everyone wears a mask indoors and at our office/in person. At events, we ask that all attendees get tested and/or show proof of vaccination before entering any facility. If you test positive for covid, we ask that you stay quarantine until your covid test result is negative.
