Active transportation program internAt — California Walks
Work with a statewide advocacy organization to collaborate with communities across the state to create more walkable and accessible communities for everyone.
Students will learn about community outreach and engagement, working with more rural communities, working with Community Based Organizations, community capacity building, grassroots planning efforts, street safety strategies, policy development processes, working with different jurisdictional agency partners, and more.
Depending on the projects ongoing at the time, students will receive associated training to be able to actively participate in the appropriate activities.
Working in active transportation can oftentimes be risky as we will be out on public streets engaging and discussing with communities about roadway safety. Our teams have experienced instances of near misses or seen minor collisions take place during walk audits so students should be prepared mentally for these kinds of experiences.
We would like to see resumes for each student and will conduct a short interview to understand the student's interest.
