Remote Opportunity: Policy & Administrative Internship At — Harbor Community Benefit Foundation (HCBF)
The primary purpose of this internship will be to summarize the information gathered by reading through the founding documents, other relevant resources, and interviews with key HCBF experts to create resource/document that will help the general public understand the history of HCBF, how it operates, its relationship to the Port of LA. The opportunity is ideal for students interested in gaining experience at a non-profit and learning about environmental exposures, public health, mitigation strategies, and other issues related to impacts on near-port communities. Student should have strong writing and communication skills, be innovative and a fast learner. Under the guidance of the Program Director, student will participate in activities to implement HCBF’s Communications Plan: - Assist with researching articles, local community initiatives, and other concepts/issues relevant to port-impacted communities (e.g. environmental hazards, public health, zero emission, safety, climate change, community engagement, etc.).
1. The background of HCBF, how the organization operates, and its relationship to Port of Los Angeles and other regulatory entities such as State Lands Commission and other stakeholders.
2. Understand the process of grants management in a nonprofit foundation
3. Be able to summarize and present relevant information and make it accessible to the community and other relevant audiences.
Program Director will provide an organizational orientation to the student. Other training will be provided as needed.
