Remote Opportunity: Volunteer TutorAt — Step Up Tutoring
Step Up Tutoring’s mission is to improve student success through academic support and mentorship in under-resourced communities. Our goal is also to promote understanding, empathy, and trust among people from diverse backgrounds. Step Up tutors will be paired with a 3rd-6th grade LAUSD student to tutor in math and language arts for twice a week, 45 minute remote tutoring sessions. Tutors decide when they want to tutor and will be paired with a student who can work at the same time. Tutors assist with homework, building math and language arts skills, encouragement, and mentorship. Tutors are also encouraged to have fun and share other interests with their students too. Resources and training along with continual support is provided through a Step Up team devoted to tutor support.
How good it feels to give back, how wonderful working with children are, and how they have the power to change the course of a child's life for the better.
We have a team devoted to making sure you feel comfortable tutoring, and many workbooks and lesson plans to give our tutors a foundation for tutoring.
It is completely remote, and both parties must sign a waiver beforehand.
