Opportunity Summary 

This is a unique opportunity to join our local nonprofit health agency as we fight lung disease in all its forms and work with our communities to promote lung health. As part of Breathe California’s efforts to protect communities from the harmful effects of tobacco, we are currently looking for a service-learner to assist the Anti-Tobacco Education Program team in engaging in various efforts to reduce tobacco/vaping use and exposure to secondhand smoke/vape.

Reimbursement provided for required onboarding and for travel on service-learner activities.

Requirements:

  • Background Check (e.g. fingerprinting/livescan, driving record)
  • Driver's License
  • Must be 18 or older
  • Vaccinations
  • Bilingual Desired (Spanish/English)
Opportunity Training 

Virtual and in-person training for all phases of project, including: the problem of tobacco/vape use, especially in public places; collection of petition signatures; the value and method of community organizing and advocating for disadvantaged communities; how to speak to elected officials and prepare remarks, share data. An orientation to all of the work of Breathe California and an introduction to staff will be conducted.

Support, supervision, mentoring-training and rehearsing- will be conducted both virtually and in-person in the local community of Monterey and/or Salinas regularly via online, phone calls, texts and emails.
