Mitteldorf Preserve StewardshipAt — Big Sur Land Trust (BSLT)
Students serving on Big Sur Land Trust's Mitteldorf Preserve stewardship team will have exclusive access to the preserve as they are supervised and mentored by preserve manager Hadley Hargrove in trail maintenance, invasive species management (weeding and pulling), and other hands-on stewardship activities. Students should be prepared for full days of physical work in a beautiful outdoor setting.
Students must be available at least one FULL WEEKDAY (e.g., MONDAYS 8AM-4PM) to be considered for this opportunity. Which weekday is selected for service will depend on our applicants’ collective availability.

Students will receive a general orientation to Big Sur Land Trust, which will review Big Sur Land Trust’s mission, vision, history, organizational structure, self-guided hiking system, preserves, major projects, and more. Students will receive field training on invasive species and land stewardship. Mitteldorf Preserve is an amazing outdoor classroom, and service learners will come away with a new understanding of conservation issues and management techniques.
Big Sur Land Trust staff will supervise the students during their workdays at Mitteldorf Preserve. Jenny Jacox will serve as an additional resource and point of contact.
Students will be required to sign a liability waiver and adhere to its terms.
