Opportunity Summary 

The Digital Coach volunteer supports older adult learners, providing tutoring on basic digital knowledge. The Digital Coach will volunteer at a computer lab in one of our partner locations throughout San Francisco.

Requirements:

  • Background Check (e.g. fingerprinting/livescan, driving record)
  • Computer Literacy
  • Health Check/Screening (e.g. temperature screening, COVID-19 test)
  • Must be 18 or older
  • Pre-Placement Training
  • Bilingual Desired
Opportunity Training 

Our volunteers complete an onboarding/training which includes, submitting a basic training form, two self-paced virtual sessions on Elder Abuse Reporting and Information Security, phone screen, background check, and an overview of resources available to them.

The volunteers submit an activity form for each volunteer session that includes a brief description of the time and anything that may have negatively impacted the session. CTN staff will follow up as appropriate. We also hold a monthly volunteer hangout to provide space to ask questions and share experiences during the month.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

On the rare occasion there is an escalated situation involving visitors to the in-person site, volunteers should seek a staff at the location for assistance.
