Opportunity Summary 

Join the Greenfield Branch team for an opportunity to learn firsthand how public libraries serve as community hubs.

  • Engage with students from grades K-12 in an afterschool enrichment space.
  • Help with homework assignments, projects, and/or create fun activities for kids looking for a safe space to hang out afterschool.
  • Help promote the homework center by creating social media graphics to be shared on our social media channels.
  • Help us build a thriving homework center!
Opportunity Training 

There will be an initial 2-hour orientation and training on library operations and organizational structure. There will also be other training opportunities throughout the semester.

Students will meet regularly with library staff to address concerns and/or learning opportunities. They will receive important library updates and be encouraged to share any questions at each shift. Library staff will be nearby in the homework center to oversee the performance of the student and will provide guidance as needed.

Opportunity Application Instructions 

Students interested in this position will need to submit a general Monterey County Free Libraries volunteer application (PDF application here).

They will then be asked to complete a brief interview to ensure that library staff is able to determine if the student will be a good fit for the homework center.
