Contributing Art to Oppia's Free Online LessonsAt — Oppia Foundation

Opportunity Summary 

The Oppia Foundation aims to provide high-quality education to those who lack access to it, by creating and distributing high-quality scalable online lessons through the Oppia web platform and Android app.

Art is an important part of these lessons, especially for learners for whom English is not a first language, or who have lower literacy levels (since it reduces the reading burden). We also take care to ensure that images have small file sizes, so that learners with poor Internet connections can easily download the lessons and play them offline on low-end Android devices. If you'd like to see some examples of our existing art, please check out the lessons at https://www.oppia.org/learn/math .

Through this opportunity, you'll be able to meet and work with lesson creators and other artists worldwide. If this sounds interesting to you and you have experience with digital art, we'd love to meet you!

Opportunity Training 

As part of the onboarding process, we will provide some material on how the Oppia team creates art, including illustration guidelines and some background on how to maintain consistency across the team.

There is an artists' groupchat that is used for coordination and providing feedback on submitted graphics. You can also email Namrata (the Art Team Lead) for feedback, as well as the lesson creator team member whom you are working with!
