Opportunity Summary 

Our internships are flexible and can touch on a variety of professional skills. Primarily our interns begin with community outreach opportunities across the county. They will learn about Blue Zones Project and the work we do across all sectors: worksites, schools, grocery stores, restaurants, civic organizations, and policy work regarding tobacco, built environment, and food. We like to gauge our intern’s interest and school requirements to provide projects on either one or two sectors. Our internships are unpaid. We offer flexibility in regards to scheduling and they are welcome to work at either of our offices and/or remote (depending on the projects they are assigned). Interns will gain skills in leadership, administration, management, and marketing with  Blue Zones Project Monterey County. This includes community outreach and marketing at various events in the Monterey County community. They will assist in a variety of tasks across all sectors such as data entry, community outreach, marketing, leading walks across the county, reviewing restaurant menus, implementing signage at grocery stores, etc. They may also assist staff leads in engaging organizations to meet pledge requirements to become a Blue Zones Project approved organization.

Opportunity Training 

Students will receive e-learning modules to complete remotely.

Interns are available to work at our offices Mon. - Fri.; 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM.

There are occasional events that occur on evenings and weekends in which interns will be encouraged to assist at some as it works with their schedules.

Staff Meetings (depending on student's community interest) typically occur Tuesdays & Wednesday anytime between 9 am - 12 pm.

Depending on the student's sector focus, they will be invited to join additional internal and external meetings as they arise.
