Opportunity Summary 

Breathe California of the Bay Area, Golden Gate, and Central Coast is a non-profit agency that has been combating lung disease since 1911. Our mission is to fight lung disease in all its forms and to work with our community to promote lung health. As part of the agency’s effort, we are looking for a Community Health Intern to assist our staff. There are three separate programs providing lung health education and services. 1) Asthma programs, reaching parents, staff at childcare centers, teens and children; 2) reaching under-represented Senior populations and 3) Tuberculosis (TB) Prevention.

General Duties & Responsibilities: · Assist with the delivery of agency health education program for target populations · Review and update presentations and/or handouts, or create new ones as needed · Schedule services, events such as health fairs, presentations, and other activities in the community · In spring/summer, assist with Camp SuperStuff, day camp for children with asthma · Conduct lung-health screenings, including spirometry, blood pressure and oxygen saturation screening · Conduct clean indoor air quality home assessments (and fall prevention for seniors) · Provide tobacco cessation information and assistance · Distribute respiratory equipment · Outreach to target populations for health education delivery opportunities · Prepare information dissemination bins for health fairs · Assist with the completion of reports · Collect, analyze, and manage epidemiological data for evaluation

Qualifications: Enrolled in public health, health science or health related educational program preferred. Excellent communications skills. Familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook. Non-smoker. Bilingual skills a plus.
