Opportunity Summary 

 ProYouth's HEART + EDGE programs, based on a Pathway approach that begins in kindergarten and continues through high school, the activities we offer are age-appropriate, project-based, and forward-looking. They are designed to expand our students’ awareness of possibilities, provide them with hands-on/minds on learning experiences that engage them in projects of relevance beyond what they may be experiencing in classrooms during the school day, and help them see themselves as capable, confident learners who can excel in a variety of fields. Pathways are vertically aligned across primary and secondary education Common Core State Standards and 21st Century Learning Skills.

  • Computer Science and Engineering includes eight-week coding, robotics, and machine building projects and introduces students to occupations and professions in technology, information management, and software development.

  • Health Sciences focuses on sports, culinary arts, human anatomy, and biology.

  • Agriculture and Environmental Science includes projects that are especially relevant to the Central Valley, such as water and soil conservation, gardening, composting, and recycling.

  • Performing and Visual Arts exposes students to digital media, sculpture, creative theater, dance, and music.

Off-site learning experiences are integrated into these Pathways and projects conclude with culminating events, which gives students a chance to showcase what they have learned to their friends, families and community members. 

 

This position is responsible for providing a class of at least twenty students with a safe, healthy, and supportive environment during the afterschool hours.

  • Support student mastery of new skills through project - based learning
  • Promote and maintain a culture of safety and well-being with students
  • Ensure that activities are age-appropriate, engaging and exciting to students
  • Establish clear, consistent expectations for behavior and positive discipline
  • Strong classroom management skills (prefered)
  • Dedicated to serving the children in our community
  • Solution-based focus
  • Microsoft Office Suite familiarity
  • Excellent organizational skills

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older
  • Fingerprint background check
  • TB clearance
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screening
