Opportunity Summary 

Monterey Waterkeeper protects and restores clean water for all in the Central Coast region through outdoor education and law and policy advocacy. The student intern will support our advocacy work by participating in public and multi-stakeholder meetings, conducting policy and scientific research, and formulating and articulating policy positions on behalf of the organization.

Opportunity Training 

Students will learn how to shape policy as well as the administrative and political process of creating policy that affects the region's drinking water, rivers, and coast. Students will strengthen their negotiation, writing, listening, and speaking skills. Monterey Waterkeeper's executive director will meet with the student intern every other week, assign policy-related projects and stakeholder or public meeting opportunities, and help guide students on how to achieve project and meeting goals and tasks.
