Digital communications that support housing for the unsheltered - Dorothy's PlaceAt — Dorothy's Place - Franciscan Workers of Junipero Serra
Did you know that the encampments of unsheltered people that you see in our community are not necessary, and are unsafe and impediments to safe housing?
We have an actionable plan to shelter and support the unhoused, but need activists to help us get our social media and email messages out to the public to enlist public support!
We're looking for 6 students to create and schedule social media and Constant Contact messages that get people excited about getting encampment dwellers into safe, supported housing. Facebook, Instagram, Canva, & video editor skills are a plus!
We need students that are well-familiar with social media and have the ability to research and create suitable content for posting. We do not have the ability to train in these areas, but our staff will provide ongoing support and supervision, feedback and approval of content before it is posted.

- POPULATION SERVED: Students may be working with individuals who pose an elevated risk of harm or injury to them.
- SITE LOCATION: Parking and work areas may not be secure or adequately illuminated.
Our population of focus at our site is chronically unsheltered adults. These consumers regard us as a drop-in facility and our facility is very low barrier; therefore, occasionally students may experience an adult with a behavioral health disability that is acting out, but not targeting students in any way. Our staff works in this environment constantly and we train student participants to expect and respect these encounters gracefully. These encounters are part of the learning that is available at our facility.
