Seaside Rising Youth Leadership Academy - Helen Rucker Center for Black ExcellenceAt — Helen Rucker Center for Black Excellence

Opportunity Summary

The program’s purpose is to nurture youth leadership through the co-development of a Youth Leadership Academy, rooted in healing-informed community organizing principles. Seaside Rising is focused on developing youth leaders by building the knowledge, skills, and relationships they need to engage in civic life and advocate for systemic change.

By investing in youth voices, Seaside Rising builds community power, amplifying the leadership of youth from marginalized communities and equipping them with the tools to become the change makers of tomorrow.

The Youth Leadership Academy runs for 8 weeks, providing youth with a platform to model what it means to be a community leader, showing them how to create impact through advocacy, creativity, and collaboration. Over the course of the academy, we’ve cultivated a diverse and safe space for youth leadership, where relationship-building is at the center, and the voices of marginalized communities are prioritized.
