Service learners will support Aquarium educators and volunteers in facilitating lab programs.
As a School Programs service learner, what will I do?”
- Engage with students, chaperones, and teachers
- Share your passion for learning and/or the ocean
- Build community with other volunteers and staff
- Set up and clean up with the team
- Practice and model animal safety
Students will commit to a weekly shift:
- Shift options:
- A shift - 8:15 am - 10:45 am
- B shift - 10:15 am - 12:30 pm
- Full Shift - 8:15 am - 12:30 pm
- Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, or Fridays
- for 10 weeks
MANDATORY INFO SESSION:
- Feb 5 at 4pm, via Zoom
Free field trips to the Monterey Bay Aquarium inspire students K-12 and the adults who support them to care about the ocean. The interactions with role models, such as the volunteers, encourage student discovery and learning about conservation and science themes. Assist with setup and/or tear down of lab programs. Engage with students and chaperones during lab programs.

Mentoring and coaching throughout from Education volunteers and staff.

Students who complete the application and interest form will be invited to attend a Service Learning info session on Thursday, February 5th at 4:00 pm. A Zoom link will be shared after the form is submitted. Attendance at the info session is required for students who would like to be considered for a volunteer placement.
