Theater Assistant Teaching InternAt — Alisal Center for the Fine Arts (ACFA)

Opportunity Summary 

The Theater Assistant Teaching Artist Intern will support ACFA’s theater workshops, where
students explore acting, improvisation, and storytelling. Interns will assist with warm-ups,
rehearsals, stage preparation, and youth guidance during class and community performances.
This role is perfect for those interested in theater education, directing, or youth arts leadership.

1 Service Learner Slot

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support teaching artist with theater games, exercises, and rehearsals.
  • Assist students in developing acting, voice, and movement skills.
  • Help coordinate stage props, costumes, and performance logistics.
  • Mentor youth in teamwork, confidence-building, and creative expression.
  • Assist in preparing and presenting student performances.

Qualifications:

  • Interest in theater, acting, directing, or performing arts education.
  • Experience in theater (school, community, or professional) preferred but not required.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills to support youth in rehearsals.
  • Comfortable with improvisation, public speaking, and creative collaboration.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work evenings (Weds, 5–9pm).
