Advocacy and Outreach InternAt — Community FoodBank of San Benito
Are you passionate about making a difference in the community while building your skills in social media, event planning, and marketing?
At the Community FoodBank of San Benito, we’re offering an internship where you’ll help shape our social media campaigns, assist in coordinating community events, and even support our grant initiatives. It’s a hands-on opportunity to gain real-world experience, boost your resume, and make an impact on thousands of lives. Plus, you'll be part of a dynamic team working to fight hunger and nourish our community.
Requirements:
- Background Check (e.g. fingerprinting/livescan, driving record)
- Computer Literacy
- Driver's License
- Must be 18 or older
- Bilingual Desired
Training will cover event logistics, budgeting, vendor coordination, and promotion. Students will also learn how to engage volunteers and attendees.
Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of grant writing, including researching opportunities, drafting proposals, and understanding nonprofit funding needs.
Training on effective communication strategies for outreach and partnership development within the local community will be provided.
Students will learn how the food bank operates, its mission, and how each task contributes to the larger goal of serving the community.
Students will have access to mentorship from experienced staff who will provide ongoing support, feedback, and development opportunities throughout the internship.
Students will receive guidance on using platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, tools like Canva for creating content, and other social media tools.
Interns will be briefed on general safety procedures at the food bank, including fire evacuation routes, first aid locations, and how to navigate the workspace safely. Any lifting or handling of materials will be done with proper training to prevent injury.
Interns working with sensitive data, such as donor, customer, or volunteer information, will receive training on properly handling and protecting confidential information, ensuring compliance with privacy policies.
Interns will be trained on safely interacting with volunteers, customers, and the community, ensuring clear communication and boundaries.
