Opportunity Summary 

By assisting County program staff to deliver direct services to Safe Use and Overdose Prevention Program (SUOPP) participants, student will learn how to apply the principles of Harm Reduction to deliver supplies, motivational interviewing techniques to improve understanding of participant readiness assistance with services available through the SUOPP, including linkage to substance use disorder treatment providers. Student will learn strategies for data collection, including data collection that is mandated and data that is used for program improvement and reporting to stake holders about program usage. Student will lean about the collaboration with Health Services Agency programs and NGO's who work to increase access to care and resources for unhoused community members and others who are often stigmatized and marginalized.

Opportunity Training 

The SUOPP Program has developed a training manual and extensive PowerPoint with links to resources and relevant program policies. Most support and training are provided during shifts through direct observation and supervised delivery of specific program services which include supplies and educational resources.

Opportunity Supervision

Program training PowerPoint and check-ins and debriefings with Program Coordinator and other shift lead staff.
