This opportunity trains the student to become an advocate for a child in dependency or juvenile justice.
Reserved for Heidi Rose Hutton
35 hour training with subjects including understanding the child welfare system, mental health, substance abuse, working within the court system, cultural humility. After completion of the training, the student will complete 12 hours of continuing education.
Opportunity Supervision
We will maintain regular contact to ensure the student is successfully advocating for the child she is appointed to serve. Including but not limited to phone, text, email, in person support. The student will use our internal database called Optima to record hours and mileage. There will be check ins initiated by the student to ensure she is seeing her assigned youth at least twice a month and attending court and necessary meetings. Student will monitor the needs for her youth and make sure his needs are being met. The advocate supervisor will be available for questions, support and guidance.
