Mentor Track and Field CoachAt — Maneuver Athletics

Opportunity Summary 

We invite California State University, Monterey Bay (CSUMB) students to engage in a rewarding service learning opportunity as mentor coaches with Maneuver Athletics Track and Field Club.

This initiative aims to enhance students’ leadership and coaching skills while fostering community engagement and youth development. Selected students will work closely with established coaches to provide individual athlete support, and guide young athletes in both skill development and personal growth. This opportunity not only nurtures the athletes’ talents but also empowers CSUMB students to develop valuable mentorship skills that will serve them in their future careers.

We encourage interested students to apply and contribute to the improvement and success of our community's young athletes.  While current or former athletes on track & field or cross country teams is preferred, any interested & dedicated student is welcome to apply.

Practices are held weekly:

  • Mon, Wed, & Fri
  • 4-6:30 p.m.
  • Monterey Peninsula College (MPC) Fields, 980 Fremont St, Monterey, CA 93940.

8 service learner spots

Requirements:

  • Pre-Placement Training & Clearance through Safe Sport (~15 min)
  • Must be 18 or older
  • Must have reliable transportation to MPC fields

 

Opportunity Training 

Students will need to complete a short training through Safe Sport.  On-site training will be provided.

Opportunity Supervision

Students will never be left alone with minors; supervisors and coaches will always be around for support.

  • Do you enjoy working with children?  What is your previous experience working with young people?
  • Have you lead drills before?  If not, would you feel comfortable doing so?
  • What is your current or previous athletic experience?
