Assistant Coach - Specialized Programs - Boxing StrongAt — Boxing Strong
Boxing Strong offers specialized programs under "Therapy" umbrella. These are programs for active agers, youth, toddlers, remote facilities (senior centers, rec centers, schools, etc.). We believe in breaking barriers of traditional training by transforming combat sports into self-empowerment.
What we are looking for from the students:
- Provide full direct assistance in coaching a class or one-on-one training to populations with physical or mental limitations, various age groups and locations.
- Assist with providing class instruction, with planned program or devise a new program to diversify the instruction
- Offer independent class instruction and coaching based on specialized program
- Actively engage with participants and families to help them understand the purpose and maintain motivation.
No Boxing Experience required. However, we encourage students assisting in more boxing-specific classes to attend boxing classes at Monterey gym (free gym membership is available throughout Service-Learning semester) to understand body logistics and specifics of the class.
5 Service Learner Spots
Students will shadow the coach and or receive individualized training depending on the program and issued a short manual to make them ready for independent execution of the class (depending on the program). Training can be virtual or in-person, with periodic feedback check-ins.
Depending on the program enrolled (active agers, senior health, youth, toddlers), the student must be able to perform basic exercises as well be able to drive to their destination. Students may be working unsupervised with minor or other vulnerable populations
