Game Design: Career Exploration Simulator - Digital NESTAt — Digital NEST, Salinas Center
Digital NEST is a non-profit that works to uplift youth in the community through free programming and services. Our goal is to ensure that underserved communities in our area have the knowledge and skills to be successful in the future. One aspect of our work is introducing our members to different career opportunities that exists all around them. However, it isn't always feasible to provide them with opportunities where they can truly experience a variety of different professions.
2 Service Learner Spots
This service learning opportunity will provide the service learner with the opportunity to develop one or a series of video games that will allow our members to explore possible career options. The goal is to give our members a chance to experience what it might be like to be work in a variety of different fields via the simulated environments and tasks of professions that catch their interests.
I will provide the student with insights to our goals, approaches, and resources to ensure that their game idea aligns with our company goals and our technical capacity.
Opportunity Supervision
I plan to meet with the students biweekly to make sure they have everything they need to complete the project, including making sure objectives and priorities are clear. I will also help with the ideation and testing process.
