Financial Literacy Community Workshop Support - UWMCAt — United Way of the Monterey County (UWMC)
Students will get hands-on experience supporting in-person financial literacy workshops for community members and non-profit staff in the community. Students assist with workshop setup, participant check-in, material preparation, and basic logistical support, either onsite at our office or at partner locations throughout the community.
2 Service Learner Spots
Service Learning Assistants observe experienced facilitators, help ensure sessions run smoothly, and support a welcoming, respectful learning environment. Responsibilities may also include light administrative tasks, post-workshop organization, and helping participants access trusted follow-up resources when directed by staff.
This role is ideal for students interested in community engagement, education, public service, or nonprofit work. No prior financial expertise is required. Students will gain exposure to community-based education, professional workplace practices, and the impact of accessible financial information on local families and individuals.
Students will be invited into all steps of the workshop delivery process and will work with direct supervision. Additional formal training will be provided by the coordinator as required.
Opportunity Supervision
Students will be working closely with the Financial Literacy Coordinator on all workshops and projects and will have direct supervision before, during, and after workshops.
Occasionally, we conduct workshops at schools and other community centers. These locations are assumed to be accessible and safe for participants.
