We are a nonprofit math enrichment program serving motivated 8th grade students who are ready for challenge and growth. Our week-long summer program goes beyond traditional math classes, offering expert instruction, hands-on STEM field trips, real-world exposure to local businesses, and leadership development—all at no cost to families.

We’re seeking one or two college students to help design and refine participant surveys that examine how our program shapes students’ attitudes, confidence, and beliefs about math. We already collect assessment growth data and want to explore correlations between academic gains and student mindset.
This role offers hands-on experience in survey design and program evaluation, mentorship in nonprofit research, and a meaningful project you can showcase—while helping expand access to high-quality math enrichment.
- Overview of our nonprofit mission, student population, and enrichment model
- Understanding how math identity, confidence, and mindset connect to student outcomes
- Aligning survey questions with program goals and evaluation needs
- Regular check-ins with program leadership
- Feedback on survey drafts, data interpretation, and final deliverables
- Support in translating findings into clear, actionable insights
Opportunity Supervision
- Written project overview with goals, timeline, and deliverables
- Review of existing assessment data and prior evaluation efforts
- Clear expectations for communication, deadlines, and revision cycles
- Regular meetings to review progress, troubleshoot challenges, and set next steps
- Open-door policy via email or messaging for questions between meetings
- Use milestone-based feedback rather than end-of-project evaluation
- Google Docs for live commenting, tracked revisions, and collaborative editing
- Google Sheets for organizing survey and assessment data
- Provide example survey questions and past assessment reports as models
- Think-aloud review sessions to explain decision-making around revisions
- Side-by-side editing of early drafts to build confidence and independence
