Yogativity partners with schools across California to deliver hands-on enrichment programs that help students discover their strengths, build confidence, and develop a love of learning. Our instructors lead engaging activities in creative arts, STEM, makerspace, outdoor skills, photography, nutrition, yoga, and martial arts. 1 Service Learner Spot
1. Pre-Onboarding: Hiring & Compliance (Before First Day)
Before working with students, all instructors complete required onboarding and safety clearances to meet school district and state requirements:
- Compliance & Safety Requirements
- LiveScan fingerprint background check (BCIA 8016 / DOJ clearance)
- TB test clearance
- I-9 employment verification and payroll setup
- Mandated Reporter Training (Child Abuse Prevention)
- School district–specific onboarding (if required)
- Emergency procedures and incident reporting training
Outcome: Ensures instructors meet all legal, safety, and district compliance standards.
2. Core Instructor Orientation (2–4 Hours)
This foundational training introduces instructors to Yogativity’s mission, expectations, and instructional approach. Topics Covered:
- Yogativity mission, values, and program philosophy
- Role and responsibilities of instructors
- Professional expectations and conduct on school campuses
- Building positive relationships with students and staff
- Classroom management strategies
- Student safety and supervision protocols
- Daily program flow and transitions
Outcome: Instructors understand their role and feel confident stepping into the classroom.
3. Program-Specific Training (Hands-On)
Instructors receive training tailored to the specific programs they will teach, such as:
- Makerspace and Engineering
- Creative Arts and Photography Outdoor Explorers
- Yoga and Mindful Movement
- Martial Arts Foundations
- Nutrition and Mindful Bites
Training Includes:
- Curriculum overview and lesson structure
- Demonstration of key activities and projects
- Equipment usage and safety guidelines
- Student engagement techniques
- Age-appropriate teaching strategies
Outcome: Instructors know exactly what to teach and how to deliver engaging lessons.
4. Classroom Readiness & Site Training
Before starting, instructors are prepared for their specific school site. Topics Covered:
- Site-specific procedures and expectations
- Student check-in and dismissal procedures
- Communication with Site Coordinators and Program Managers
- Emergency protocols and escalation procedures
- Classroom setup and supply management
Outcome: Instructors are fully prepared to operate confidently at their assigned school.
