Assistant Football Coach/ Team TrainerAt — Marina High School - MPUSD

Opportunity Summary 

As an assistant coach and athletic trainer, the student will support daily football operations by assisting with strength and conditioning sessions, helping monitor athlete performance, and providing basic injury prevention and care. They will gain hands-on experience in coaching, leadership, and sports medicine while contributing to a structured, high-accountability team environment.

Opportunity Training 

Students will receive hands-on training in strength and conditioning principles, proper lifting techniques, and safe use of weight room equipment. They will also be introduced to basic athletic training concepts including injury prevention, stretching, recovery methods, and sideline support. Ongoing mentorship will be provided by coaching staff, with guidance on communication, leadership, and working within a structured team environment.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

All student activities will take place under the direct supervision of coaching staff to ensure a safe environment. Students will be trained in proper use of equipment, safe lifting techniques, and injury prevention practices. They will not perform any medical procedures beyond basic first aid support and will be instructed to immediately report any injuries or concerns to supervising staff. Safety protocols for the weight room and athletic field will be strictly enforced at all times.
