Digital Storytelling & Social Media - Partnership for ChildrenAt — Partnership for Children (P4K)
Help Partnership for Children share stories that inspire, inform, and connect our community. This service-learning opportunity is ideal for a student interested in communications, social media, marketing, storytelling, or nonprofit work.
The Service Learner will help create engaging content for our social media platforms and website, highlighting programs, community partnerships, events, resources, and the impact of our work with children facing serious illnesses and their families. Projects may include developing social media posts and graphics, writing website content, creating short-form videos, promoting events and volunteer opportunities, and helping tell meaningful stories about our mission.
Students will gain hands-on experience in nonprofit communications while learning how thoughtful, ethical storytelling can increase awareness, strengthen community engagement, and connect families with important resources. Creativity, initiative, strong writing skills, and sensitivity to the families we serve are especially valued.
2 Service Learner Spots
Students will receive an orientation to Partnership for Children’s mission, programs, services, and the families and communities we serve. Training will include an overview of our communication goals, brand voice, social media platforms, website, and existing content.
Students will also receive guidance on creating accessible, engaging, and mission-aligned content; protecting client confidentiality; obtaining appropriate permissions; and using respectful, strengths-based storytelling when discussing children and families facing serious illness.
Ongoing supervision and feedback will be provided by the Executive Director, including guidance on content planning, writing, graphics, social media best practices, and project priorities. Students will have opportunities to ask questions, develop their skills, and receive feedback throughout the service-learning experience.
Opportunity Supervision
Students will receive consistent supervision and support from the Executive Director throughout the service-learning experience. We will begin with a clear work plan outlining responsibilities, priorities, deadlines, and communication expectations.
Students will have regular check-ins to review current projects, discuss ideas, address questions or challenges, and identify upcoming content needs. Draft social media and website content will be reviewed and approved before publication, providing students with ongoing feedback and opportunities to strengthen their skills.
We will use shared digital tools, such as Google Drive and organizational content platforms, to collaborate on drafts, organize resources, and track projects. Students will also have access to examples of previous communications, brand materials, and program information to support their work.
Supervision will be collaborative and responsive, with opportunities for students to contribute creative ideas while receiving clear guidance, timely feedback, and support as they develop greater independence.
