In this role, you would be working with the Reading Machine (RM) Coordinator and assisting with tasks that help facilitate RM programming such as craft material prep, program infrastructure prep, and inventorying materials.
Some examples of the work include:
- cutting paper shapes in bulk
- counting/labelling/organizing craft materials
- labelling and laminating envelopes
- keeping stock of items to notify the RM Coordinator if supplies for a craft are low or need purchased.
You would be supporting the County Libraries Reading Machine programs, which are delivered at preschool, head start, and T-K programs. The RM Coordinator:
- travels to school sites on a monthly basis and performs a storytime
- does a checkout/circulation with the students onboard the RM
- drops off a hands-on crafting activity for the students.
Assembling the crafting materials for drop-off crafts for these programs is a huge help to a meaningful and impactful early literacy program.

Orientation to the workspace (Library Administrative Office) and the resources, tools, and materials available for prepping the crafts. Guidance and instructions on what the crafts are and how they should be prepared. Examples provided for packaging/organizing the craft materials when possible.
